Review of Rat Royale (New Game)
Introduction
✅ It’s genuinely fun to play, with three Free Spins variants (Blood Ritual, Blood Pact and Blood Lust) and a Rat King Wild on reel 3 that keeps the bonus round interesting. ✅ Flexible options for how you play. Ante Bet 1 gives you 4x the chance of Free Spins, Ante Bet 2 guarantees the Blood Lust variant, and you can buy straight into the bonus if you’d rather skip the wait.
❌The gem mechanics are complex. Each Rat King Wild gem does something different, and it takes a while to get your head around what’s happening on screen.
❌ The bonus can get costly. The Super Free Spins buy costs 500x your bet, and Ante Bet 2 costs 5x your stake on every spin, which adds up quickly on a smaller budget.
The first thing that caught my eye with Rat Royale was the graphics, and honestly, they’re outstanding. Pragmatic Play drops you into a dark underground kingdom run by armoured rat warriors, with candlelit stone vaults, piles of gold, and glowing red, blue, green and purple gems that really pop against the dull stone backdrop. It’s easily one of the best-looking slots I’ve tested from them this year. It’s also genuinely fun to play, not just a pretty skin.
Rat Royale is a 5×5 ways slot with 259 ways to win, releasing on 22nd October 2026. It’s medium volatility with a 15,000x max win, bets from $0.20 to $240, and three RTP versions (96.52%, 95.50% and 94.53%), so check which one your casino runs. The Rat King Wild on reel 3 is the star of the show, and landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters gives you one of three Free Spins variants, ending with Blood Lust. You also get Ante Bet and two Buy Feature options if you’d rather skip the wait.
Base game wins land about once every 4.10 spins, while Free Spins take around 1 in 174 spins to show up. Here’s everything else we found.
