Review of Fury of Anubis slot (New Demo Game)
I just spent the last few days playing Pragmatic Play's latest mythology slot, Fury of Anubis, and if you're a Gates of Olympus fan like me, this one is going to feel very familiar — but in a good way, mostly.
Introduction to Fury of Anubis™🎰
If you've spent any time on Gates of Olympus, you're going to feel right at home the moment Fury of Anubis loads up. Same 6×5 grid, same scatter pays setup, same tumbling symbols — visually and mechanically, Pragmatic Play has followed a very familiar blueprint here. That's not necessarily a bad thing, because the blueprint works. But if you're hoping for something completely fresh, manage your expectations going in.
What is truly different is the multiplier system. In Gates of Olympus, you're waiting for multiplier symbols to land on the grid. In Fury of Anubis, the multiplier just doubles automatically on every winning tumble within a spin — x2, x4, x8, all the way up to x1,024 in theory. The first time you see it chain a few times in a row, the potential becomes immediately obvious. In practice, getting those long tumble chains consistently is harder than it sounds — across all my sessions, this felt noticeably tighter than Gates of Olympus in terms of win frequency. The base game hit frequency of 1 in 3.59 looks reasonable on paper, but free spins only trigger once every 435 spins on average, so be prepared for some patience.

🎮Gameplay and Special Features of Fury of Anubis™
The Multiplier System
This is the heart of the game, and it's where Fury of Anubis earns its place. Every time winning symbols tumble, and new wins appear, the multiplier doubles. Start at x1, first win gives you x2, second gives x4, third gives x8, and so on up to x1,024. In the base game, the multiplier resets after all tumbles end. In free spins, it resets back to your starting multiplier at the end of each spin — not back to x1. That difference matters a lot, and it's why getting free spins with more scatters or gambling up your starting multiplier is so worth going for.
Free Spins and the Gamble Feature
Hitting 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters triggers 10 free spins with starting multipliers of x8, x16, x32, or x64, respectively. Before the round begins, you get the option to gamble — and this is where things get genuinely nerve-wracking. It starts at 50/50 odds, and if you win, the multiplier doubles. Win again, and it doubles again, all the way up to x256 as a starting multiplier. If you lose, though, you lose all your free spins. Gone. I've been caught out by this more than once, going for one gamble too many. My advice — take one gamble if you triggered with 3 scatters to get to a better starting position, but be very cautious about pushing your luck beyond that.
Bonus Buy and Ante Bet
This is where the game really opens up if you're in a country where bonus buying is available. There are 5 bonus buy options: 100x, 175x, 200x, 400x, and 800x your bet — each one corresponding to triggering free spins with a specific number of scatters and therefore a higher starting multiplier. For me, the 175x lucky draw option is the most interesting value play if you just want to get into the bonus without committing to a specific scatter count.
The ante bet options are worth knowing about, too. The best, in my opinion, is the 3x ante bet option, which gives you 10 times the normal chance of triggering free spins. For just triple your bet, that's great value and the one I use most sessions. There are also Super Spin options at 20x and 250x your bet that apply a random or fixed starting multiplier to a single base game spin — no scatters are present in these spins, so free spins can't trigger, but the x256 guaranteed starting multiplier on the 250x Super Spin is an exciting experience when the tumbles start chaining.
How Does It Compare to Gates of Olympus?
Honestly? It's right up there. I'd put them on similar levels overall — Fury of Anubis has higher theoretical max win potential at 10,000x versus Gates of Olympus, and the doubling multiplier mechanic feels more visceral when it chains. But Gates of Olympus feels more generous in regular play — wins come more frequently and the base game is more entertaining to sit in for longer sessions. Fury of Anubis can feel dry between free spins triggers compared to what I'm used to from Gates.
If you already love Gates of Olympus this is absolutely worth playing. If you're new to scatter pay slots, Gates is probably still the better starting point.
Useful Information About Bandit Megaways™
One thing to note is the free spins rate at 1 in 435.41 is quite high compared to many other slots, so it can take some time before you win them. I did have one session where it took over 1500 spins before the free spin came. But I also had a section where I got them with 5 spins.
My Thoughts About This Demo Game™ 🎯
Fury of Anubis is a polished, exciting scatter pay slot that takes a proven formula and gives it a genuinely fresh multiplier twist. The visual design is excellent — Anubis looks genuinely intimidating, the Egyptian afterlife theme is well executed, and the free spins gamble screen with the weighing of the heart is a nice genuine touch. Is it groundbreaking? Not really. Does it need to be? Probably not, when the core mechanics are this good.
High volatility players who love the bonus buy will find a lot to enjoy here, and anyone who has worn out their welcome on Gates of Olympus has a very worthy alternative waiting for them.
