Invictus Demo & Review (New Free slot)
Introduction to Invictus
Just finished putting Hacksaw Gaming's latest creation, Invictus, through its paces, and I gotta say – this one's got some serious Roman god vibes going on! Released on July 3rd, 2025, this slot takes you straight to the Pantheon of Jupiter where towering warriors stand guard and lightning crackles across stormy skies.
The whole theme screams power and mythology, with stunning visuals that really capture that epic Roman atmosphere. You got these massive columns, dramatic storm effects, and character symbols that look like they could step right out of a gladiator movie. After 15+ years of spinning reels, I can appreciate when a developer really commits to a theme, and Hacksaw definitely didn't hold back here.
What caught my attention immediately though is this unique multiplier system they've cooked up. Instead of your typical slot mechanics, Invictus uses these “Pantheon Multipliers” on the left and right sides of each row that can seriously amp up your wins. It's definitely more complex than what your average slot player might be used to, but once you get the hang of it, the potential is pretty exciting.
The game runs on a 5×4 grid with 14 paylines and high volatility that'll test your patience but can reward you handsomely when the gods decide to smile on you!

Gameplay and Special Features of Finger Lick’n Free Spins
The core gameplay in Invictus revolves around this innovative Pantheon Multiplier system that honestly took me a few spins to fully understand. On the left side of each row, you've got “Adding Multipliers” that change randomly on every spin and can range from 1x all the way up to a massive 100x. These apply to any winning payline that starts from that specific row.
But here's where it gets interesting – on the right side of each row, there are hidden “Multiplying Multipliers” that only reveal themselves when you land a 5-symbol win that crosses the entire grid. These right multipliers (ranging from 2x to 20x) then multiply with the left multiplier to create the total multiplier applied to your win.
During my many hours testing session, I managed to hit a 5-symbol win with a 15x left multiplier and a 5x right multiplier, which gave me a total 75x multiplier on what would've been a modest 8x line win. Turned it into a nice 600x payout!
The Olympian Respins feature is another clever touch. Whenever you land a win with high-paying symbols or wilds, those symbols stick to the grid while everything else respins. This continues as long as you keep landing new high-paying wins. I had one epic sequence where I triggered 4 consecutive respins and kept building up my win with each respin.
One thing I found during my testing is that the multiplier system can be a bit confusing at first. Some players might find it complicated to understand how the left and right multipliers work together, especially when your trying to track which rows have what multipliers during those respin sequences.
Free Spins and Bonus Features
Invictus offers three different bonus rounds depending on how many FS scatter symbols you land:
- Temple of Jupiter (3 FS scatters): Gets you 10 free spins with the same mechanics as the base game but better multiplier chances. I triggered this one about 5 times during my marathon session and while it's solid, it's definitely the “basic” bonus.
- Immortal Gains (4 FS scatters): Also 10 free spins, but all left multipliers are guaranteed to be at least 5x. This makes a huge difference in payout potential. I only managed to trigger this once, but it paid out nearly 400x my bet thanks to those boosted multipliers.
- Dominus Maximus Hidden Epic Bonus (5 FS scatters): The holy grail with 10 free spins plus a special Middle Multiplier on reel 3. When you hit 5-symbol wins, all three multipliers (Left, Middle, Right) multiply together for potentially insane payouts. I never hit this during my testing, but you can see the massive potential.
During any bonus round, landing additional FS symbols gives you extra spins – 2 FS symbols add +2 spins, and 3 FS symbols add +4 spins. This happened twice during my testing and really extended those bonus rounds.
What I really like about this system is that each bonus tier feels meaningfully different, not just “more of the same with slightly better odds.” The progression from basic multipliers to guaranteed 5x+ multipliers to the triple multiplier system gives you real reasons to hope for more scatters.

Useful Information About Finger Lick’n Free Spins
The RTP varies quite a bit depending on which version your casino is running, from a solid 96.24% down to a pretty poor 88.27%. As always with Hacksaw, make sure to check which version you're playing before you start spinning.
One thing I discovered during my testing is that the BONUSHUNT FEATURESPINS option offers the game's best RTP at 96.40%, compared to the regular game's 96.24%. Plus, it gives you 5 times better chances of hitting free spins, which is where the big wins really come from in this game. I spent about half my session using this feature and definitely felt like I was getting more bonus triggers.
The 10,000x max win is available in all game modes, which is pretty generous for a high volatility slot. The 28% hit frequency means you'll land some kind of win roughly every 3-4 spins, but with high volatility, expect plenty of dead spins between the good hits.
You can also buy directly into the bonus features, with different RTP rates for each:
- BONUSHUNT FEATURESPINS: 96.40%
- FATE AND FURY FEATURESPINS: 96.39%
- Temple of Jupiter: 96.28%
- Immortal Gains: 96.26%
My Thoughts About This Demo Game
After spending most of my weekend testing Invictus, I'd give it a solid 8.6/10. It's definitely a fun game to play with some innovative mechanics that set it apart from the usual Hacksaw offerings, but it's not quite a masterpiece.
The multiplier system is genuinely clever and creates moments of real excitement when everything lines up properly. That feeling when you see a big left multiplier, land a 5-symbol win, and watch a massive right multiplier reveal itself is genuinely thrilling. The respin feature also adds nice tension as you watch those high-paying symbols stick and hope for more to join them.
However, the complexity might be a barrier for some players. During my first dozen spins, I was constantly checking the paytable to remind myself how the multipliers worked. It's not rocket science, but it's definitely more involved than your typical “land 3 scatters for free spins” setup.
The high volatility is no joke either. I had stretches of 50+ spins without hitting anything meaningful, followed by sudden bursts where the multipliers would align and deliver decent wins. My biggest single hit was about 680x during a Temple of Jupiter bonus where I managed to retrigger and hit some nice multiplier combinations.
The theme and presentation are top-notch – the Roman mythology aesthetic is beautifully executed and the storm effects during big wins really add to the atmosphere. The soundtrack fits perfectly too, making you feel like your battling alongside ancient warriors.
My main complaint is that while the features are innovative, they don't feel quite as impactful as some of Hacksaw's best work. The potential is clearly there, but in practice, most of my bonus rounds ended up in the 50-150x range rather than the life-changing hits you dream about.
Bottom line: Invictus is a solid addition to Hacksaw's portfolio that offers something genuinely different. The multiplier mechanics are clever and the theme is beautifully executed. While it might not be their most explosive slot, it's definitely worth trying if your looking for something that breaks the mold of standard slot design.
My overall rating is 8.6 out 10. Innovative mechanics and stunning presentation, but the complexity and volatility might not be for everyone. Will I play again? maybe a few times more.
